Potential College Merger
A major protest today, hours before a mountain college prepares to vote on whether to merge with another school.
More than one hundred students, faculty and alumni gathered at Montreat College this afternoon, organizing against the school's plan to join with Point University in Georgia.
A final decision is expected to be made tonight at a Board of Trustee's meeting.
Many on campus are opposed to the move saying it'll strip the small Christian school of its identity.
Jordan Lukacena, Student Government Association President, "most of the people do not support the merger because if the merger happens, staff and faculty lose their jobs. We have to find, if we're still here, another place to go to school."
A letter that was made public last week details the Board of Trustee's plan if the merger goes through within the next five years.
Many are worried that will mean the Presbyterian College will no longer be a school with a religious foundation.
