Duke Energy crews worked to restore a few power outages Thursday. Officials say they really received a break from this storm. Only a handful of outages were reported in the six counties they serve. They say that's because we didn't get that wet, heavy snow.
Enka was one of the few areas that experienced a brief outage. Duke Energy crews busy working on the lines off Sand Hill Road. The outage there not only cut power to nearby homes, but it also knocked out the traffic lights at the intersection of Sand Hill Road and Smoky Park Highway. Drivers though didn't seem to have any problems associated with it.
Duke Energy says today's wind was probably a contributing factor in some of the outages. He says crews will continue to be on standby tonight and into tomorrow. Especially since another round of winter weather is moving this way.
Duke is telling customers if they you do have an outage to report it to them. Or if you see any downed power lines to stay away.
